One of the last working farms in Philadelphia, Fox Chase Farm, an 112-acre homestead, offers tours in the summer, various family events throughout the year, and a glimpse at days gone past. Staffed by volunteers, the farm provides today's urban youth with a picture of working days, complete with sheep, cows, horses, and long country lanes. A reconstructed barn, several wide open fields, and various buildings and houses decorate the landscape.
Family activities offered by the farm include wood working, vegetable printing, ice cream churning, dried flower pressing, and maple sugaring. An active 4-H club operates at the farm in the areas of pigs, sheep and cows. Children must be at least nine years old to participate and a parent must be actively involved in this weekly commitment.
