about Fred 62:

This renovated diner serves a variety of American dishes to a variety of Los Feliz residents and visitors on a round-the-clock schedule.

The menu offers sandwiches with names like sloppy G.I. Joe and Macdaddy and cheese, all priced at $6, $7 or $8, and 62 cents. In other words, it's a little cutesy, but the food is good, and there are tasty choices for kids, like peanut butter and jelly sandwiches, hot dogs, grilled cheese sandwiches, 3-ounce hamburgers, and Japanese-style noodle dishes. You can also design your own sandwiches from a variety of breads, meats, and cheeses, or choose a salad, or soup.

Milkshakes, malts, sundaes, and some cookies and cakes, are available for dessert.

Breakfast is served from 7am until 12n on weekdays, and until 3pm on weekends. Try the famous pancakes, or french toast, bagels, fresh fruit, or one of the many egg dishes - like eggs Fredstone or the Fred McMurray.

Seating is available outdoors, in small tables set up on the sidewalk, or indoors in a booth, or at the counter. The restaurant has booster seats, but no high chairs.

The owner, Fred Eric, does offer catering services, including individualized box lunches to go, for a 10% service charge.

getting there:

Take the Los Feliz Blvd. exit off the 5 Freeway, head west, and turn left on Vermont Ave. OR, take the Western Ave. exits off the 101 Freeway, or the 10 Freeway, head north, and turn right on Franklin Ave. The restaurant is one block south of Franklin, on the corner of Russell and Vermont. Parking is available on the street; at night, when the neighborhood gets very crowded, valet parking is available.
