The Florida Research Institute for Equine Nurturing, Development & Safety, Inc. (FRIENDS) rescues and provides care for EIA (Equine Infectious Anemia) positive horses and works closely with veternarians who are helping to develop a vaccine for EIA, a blood disease that affects horses but is not contagious nor harmful to humans. Families can work together to
assist with feeding, watering, stall cleaning, and other types of horse care, or can elect to financially sponsor a horse's care. First-time volunteers must complete and bring
volunteer forms to the ranch during their first visit.
