about Frog Pond:
When Jack Frost starts nipping at your nose, don't run inside. Lace up your skates and hit the Frog Pond located in the historic Boston Common. Frog Pond is the Common's "cement pond" - and it hosts skating in the winter and becomes a wading pool in the summer. It's easily one of our favorite family spots.
For those aspiring Ice Capaders, there's no better place to sharpen skills; you'll find 16,000 square feet of outdoor skating space primed for blades. Skate and locker rentals are available, and a toasty warm kiosk is open when you need to thaw out or grab a bite to eat from the full service snack bar. Best of all, IceStars Skating Programs offer group and private lessons.
When it's warm and you need to cool off, the Frog Pond doubles as a huge wading pool, with fountain. Even the smallest of kids can enjoy the water. Moms and Dads needn't worry; the pool is never filled higher than an inch or so. The bigger kids will have fun doing the fountain thing. It's also a nice spot to sit on a bench, chat with some other parents, and watch your kids have a great time.
tips:
Call ahead during skating season. When it's too warm or a little drizzly the rink may be closed.
Be one of the first to celebrate the opening of the Frog Pond Skating rink and receive a free hot chocolate from Santa's Elves. Bring your family and see if you can tag an elf for your chance to receive an ARTHUR CHRISTMAS screening pass on November 18 from 4-7pm. Click here to find out more about the 12 days of fun family events nationwide leading to the release of ARTHUR CHRISTMAS, the new 3D CG-animated family comedy in theaters November 23, 2011.

I love the Frog Pond! I like to take of my shoes and walk through it on the way to an appointment in town. Refreshing. Saw a Dad and 3 year old child this past June as I was walking by and it was not open yet. Hope that it opens as scheduled this year! (For everyones sake.)
