The
Georgia Ballet, comprised of a professional
dance company and a dance school, was founded in 1960 with a mission to promote excellence in ballet performance and training, foster an increased public awareness and appreciation for dance, and provide dedicated and talented dancers with the opportunity for advanced level training and professional performance venues. Each year The Georgia Ballet professional company presents a public performance series at the
Cobb Civic Center. The Arts-In-Education Outreach Program gives more than 14,000 metro area students a chance to attend these performances.
Classes are offered in modern dance, jazz, classical ballet, tap, and yoga for children starting at age two (with a parent).
Day camps are offered in dance and drama, with a special session on strength and movement for boys. Advanced and Intermediate students can audition for
Georgia Ballet Student Ensemble and its Apprentice group. Ensemble members train several days per week and participate in several performances throughout the year, including The Georgia Ballet's annual production of
The Nutcracker.
