Girl Scouts engages girls in a variety of leadership development activities that strive to help them develop the courage, confidence and character to change the way they see the world and their place in it. In order to continue to meet girls’ physical, social, emotional and intellectual needs as they mature, Girl Scouts offers 5 age levels; Daisy Girl Scouts, Brownie Girl Scouts, Junior Girl Scouts, Cadette Girl Scouts and Senior Girl Scouts. Through planned activities, travel, and mentorships with local employers, girls learn about science, business, arts, and themselves. The organization also hosts summer resident and day camp activities. Selling Girl Scout cookies is one activity girls can participate in and through it gain important financial literacy skills such as money management and marketing. The neighborhood troop model is the primary method for delivering Girl Scout programs to girls, however, girls can choose to participate as individually registered members or in interest groups.
