Columbus Metro Park Glacier Ridge, in Northeast Franklin County, lures active families with a bike/hike trail, playground, and disc golf course. Another cool feature in the park is a wind turbine, which, along with some solar panels, helps generate electricity in the park.
Visitors can traverse a boardwalk through the wetlands or climb a 25-foot observation tower to see waterfowl and other animals that live amid the park's 1,000-plus acres, including 250 acres of reestablished wetlands that add to the property's diversity of plants and wildlife.
Visitors should note that water is not available at the park, so thirsty folks are encouraged to bring their own water bottles. Also, due to the wind at Glacier Ridge, temperatures can be 10 to 15 degrees cooler than nearby areas; dress accordingly.
