Graceland is a cultural phenomenon that is either thoroughly bewildering (to non-Elvis fans) or an absolutely obvious destination - Mecca (to Elvis fans). Either way, it's an interesting, if expensive, "must do" for visitors to Memphis. Elvis' "mansion" is actually small by today's standards, and the tour begins on the other side of the very busy boulevard, where crowds are herded through the ticketing process (with strains of Presley tunes piped through the omnipresent speakers) and filed onto mini buses for the journey across the street. Visitors can also look through the King's planes and check out his other vehicles, and - of course - shop for Elvis memorabilia.
