Primarily a hub for
Metro North Railroad,
Grand Central also offers some great shopping and dining experiences.
The
Dining Concourse on the lower level has a nice seating area, for which the centerpieces are old style depot benches. Kids can choose from a number of store fronts, from pizza to the legendary Juniors. Nearby, you'll find old stand-by (and more formal)
The Oyster Bar. The balconies above the Main Concourse house several more expensive and elegant dining options, like Metrazur, Cipriani Dolci, and Michael Jordan's Steakhouse. A quick walk around should find the perfect place to satisfy anyone's palate.
The kid-friendly
New York Transit Museum offers free admission.
Free tours of
Grand Central are available on Wednesdays and Fridays at 12:30pm. Call the Grand Central Partnership at 212.697.1245 for more information.

Don't forget to point out the beautifully restored ceiling in the Main Concourse, which features the constellations in all their glory.
