about Great Harvest Bread Company:

We like visiting these unpretentious bakeries because of their free slice policy: Everyone who walks in is immediately offered a slice of bread (or a breadstick for the kids) to sample. While the kids with us gnaw quietly on the breadstick, we're able to scan the shelves of fresh-baked breads in peace.

Look for a rotating selection of all-natural breads, from a toothsome honey wheat perfect for toast to wilder seasonal inventions like White-Chocolate Cherry Bread around Valentine's Day and other Bread of the Month selections. Rolls and buns are also available. Crusts here are soft - not the crunchy exteriors so prized in other artisanal breads - making the bread very kid-friendly indeed.

Great Harvest uses premium, high-protein whole wheat flour that is ground freshly everyday onsite to ensure the best taste and nutritional value. There also are no preservatives, additives or dough conditioners in the products. Just simple, pure ingredients. The Great Harvest mission states, aside from making phenomenal breads and treats, the importance of being active community participants. The bakeries support a variety of local causes from school projects to the Children's Medical Center to providing bread to local shelters, and many things in between. It's a fun, upbeat place with a soul and really awesome fresh bread!

Bakery treats (try the gooey cinnamon rolls), sandwiches, and bottled juices round out the menu, and can be ordered to eat in or to go. Sit at one of the tables scattered about inside, or head outside to one of the chairs parked on the sidewalk and watch the neighbors go by.
