You won't find a more quintessentially New York location for a pizzeria than at the foot of the Brooklyn Bridge - on the Brooklyn side - which is exactly where you'll find Grimaldi's Pizzeria. One of the great pizzerias in New York, Patsy Grimaldi's was known as Patsy's until 1996, when the Grimaldis were sued by the owners of another Patsy's, which had once been the property of Patsy Grimaldi's uncle (how's that for a New York story?)!
The pizza, made to order in the blast furnace of an oven, features fresh mozzarella and a crispy, thin crust, and is absolutely delicious. The open kitchen is at the back of the restaurant, so it's possible, and lots of fun, to watch as your pizza is created. You can start with a cold antipasto, then either a regular tomato sauce-based pie or a white pie; there are 12 toppings from which to choose.
