about Hanauma Bay Nature Preserve:

Hanauma Bay is a Nature Preserve dedicated to safeguarding the fragile marine life in the Bay. And, as such, visitors are required to view a nine minute film before they are granted beach access. In addition to the Preserve's fascinating marine life, it has lots to offer in the way of geological interest. It's also home to many species of coastal plants, and migrating birds. Masks, fins, snorkels ($6), and lockers can be rented at the beach. The concession stand accepts cash only, and is open 8am-5pm.

tips:

Plan to get to the bay early. The parking lot often fills early and you will be turned away if it is full. Or take the number 22 bus from Waikiki. Bring hats, sunscreen, and plenty of water.
