about Harry's Coffee Shop:
This place embodies the best of a family-owned, family-friendly restaurant. Owned by Harry Rudolph since the early 1960's and managed through the years by his eight children, Harry's is a local institution.
It offers loads of menu choices that will please the kids, including the Silver Dollar pancakes that have been around for a couple of generations at least. But as the Rudolph clan ages the menu has expanded to include diet-conscious and downright healthy options that adults appreciate, like a variety of salads, granola, and whole wheat banana pancakes.
The food is not cheap but it is inexpensive (a lunch for four will be in the $20-30 range), and you'll get a lot for your money. An order of one egg always gets you two; and an order of coffee gives you a fresh carafe at your table.
Breakfast is served all day, there is a (mostly) typical children's menu, and outdoor seating is available.
tips:
Plan on an impossibly long wait if you go on a weekend morning. Best to arrive before 9am or after noon.
getting there:
From I-5 North or 52 West, take La Jolla Parkway exit; from I-5 South, exit on La Jolla Village Drive. Both take you directly to Torrey Pines Road heading west. Upon entering the Village of La Jolla, turn left onto Girard Avenue . Harry's has a free parking lot behind it's building (take a left onto Pearl and the first left again onto Herschel), otherwise, there is street parking in front.
