The Haunted Happenings Halloween Festival happens every year during October in the bewitching seaport of Salem. It is a magical month that blends traditional autumn celebrations with the excitement of Halloween.
Museums, attractions, haunted houses, and tours extend their operating hours during the month of October so you can take in even more of the sights. The streets are bustling with merchants, dramatic productions, psychic fairs and games. A pumpkin carving demonstration by local art students and a pie-eating contest are among the many festivities.
By train (an approximately 30-minute trip), take the Newburyport/Rockport Commuter Rail Line from North Station. By car from Boston (30 minute drive), take I-93 North to Exit 37-A to I-95 North. Follow I-95 North to Route 128 North. Take exit 25A and follow Route 114-East into Salem. Once in Salem, follow signs to the Salem Visitor Center, Museum & Historic Sites and Downtown Parking. Please note: I-95 North and Route 128-North share the same road for a section; when the roads divide, stay on Route 128-North.
