I'm pretty certain that a counselor at the after school program stole my son's iPhone. The reason I suspect one of the young ladies is because there were phone calls made to race-specific salons in Beacon hill the following days after. I went to summer school here when I was a kid in the 80's. It's not even the same at all. They are not inline with the culture of the community.

As a paranoid parent I put deposits down at several places before we found THE RIGHT ONE! We would rather be no where else. Our child loves the teachers, playmates and all the staff that are involved in the community center! Our child has learned more then we had hoped for. I would recommend this school to anyone who is looking for a fun, nurturing, learning environment for their child. (check it out early though cause it fills up!)

My son's former teacher at the Learning Ladder Preschool is not a doctor, yet in a written statement, she diagnosed my son with having "unusual gender identity issues". Real doctors, who are nationally renowned experts in early childhood development, say that dramatic play is normal and healthy. This teacher would embarrass my son openly in class. She separated him from his class mates. When we asked her about it, she was apparently caught off guard and gave no explanation. At no time prior to this (this was his 2nd year) did she ever discuss any problem with us. In fact, she said my son was kind and helpful, empathetic and sympathetic toward other children, always doing the right thing at the right time and had never been in trouble (in writing). After we complained, she sent an email to all the parents accusing us of slandering and harassing her. This email stated: "for those of you who know [my son], you can imagine that I had to go 'above and beyond' to make sure the other children accepted and even embraced his uniqueness." My son does not have any uniqueness that is a gender identity issue, yet this teacher made an uninformed diagnosis and acted on it. Her favorite teacher's quote is "Don't believe everything your child tells you about me and my school and I won't believe everything they tell me about you and your home." My advice to you is to pay attention to what your child is telling you. My son would cry after school and tell me he didn't want to go anymore. I wish I had listened to him.

Our child is well prepared for kindergarten, thanks to learning ladder preschool. Our child has learned the basics of reading and writing. On nice weather days the Hiawatha park is a great place for the kids to get fresh air and exercise. My only complaint is sometimes school starts late because the teacher waits for most of the students to arrive before starting the good morning song. We searched long and hard before we discovered The Learning Ladder at Hiawatha. The space is much larger and brighter (lots of natural sunlight) than most other preschools. There is a huge selection of toys, books and athletic equipment. The children have access to the gym, the track and the nearby playground. Hiawatha has a 24 hour security cameras installed that monitors the inside and outside of the building. The learning ladder teaching program follows the scholastic lesson plan for preschoolers. The staff is caring and sensitive to each child's needs, encouraging social and personal growth.The waiting list and added hours to the program (the learning ladder will have 2 sessions next school year, morning and afternoon) make it clear that many have discovered this hidden jewel.

We have nothing but great things to say about the experience our child has had at Learning Ladder Preschool. Our child adores the teachers and we are amazed at the things both academically and socially our child has come home knowing, all of which were learned in school. We would recommend this program to everyone with a preschool aged child.

This is a great facility, I don't think I've ever seen one to rival it. The teachers strike a good balance between caring and discipline. Among other things the preschoolers are taught good citizenship, letters, some reading and writing (based upon the ability of each individual child), colors, numbers, animals, athletics and education on traditional American holidays and festivities. This is our child's second year attending Learning Ladder preschool at Hiawatha. Hiawatha is a great resource for so many other extracurricular activities as well.

Learning Ladder Pre-K is great, as long as your religious and political views match those of the teacher's. Your child will not learn anything academically useful, it is merely a playdate. Teacher manipulates childrens' relationships, and gossips about children and parents to other parents. Be sure to keep a copy of your scholastic book order form.
