Great location, mostly great staff, and the usual Hilton amenities make this midtown institution (the biggest hotel in New York!) a perfect choice for families. Rooms are nicely appointed and include coffee-makers, mini-bars and hair-dryers. High-speed DSL and wireless high-speed internet access are available in every room, so you can check your itinerary against our GoCityKids.Com recommendations!
Cable TV Channels include Nickelodeon, Disney, and Cartoon Network, along with family-friendly pay-per-view movies.
Windows actually open about 1/4 inch, for those starved for real air.
Room Service is reasonably quick, and predictably expensive. The fruit platter is a great late-night choice, though, especially if the kids haven't been eating as healthily as you'd like. The Hilton has felt your pain over room service prices, and has added a children's room service breakfast menu with much more reasonable rates. Kids can also order PB&J ($5) or a small cheese pizza. Breakfast is served from 5:30am to 11am; all day dining from 11am-11pm.
The Hilton also offers a restaurant in the lobby, New York Marketplace, which is open daily and has an interesting Japanese breakfast buffet. For the less experimental, an American breakfast buffet is available as well. A Kids' Menu is available for lunch and dinner, with standard kid fare at reasonable prices. Restaurant hours are Sun and Mon 6am-3pm; Tue-Sat 6am-11pm.
The Fitness Club and Spa is located on the 5th floor and contains some treadmills and strength-training equipment and offers manicures, pedicures, and facials.
Two ATMs, a Theater Desk for Broadway shows and special events, a Transportation Desk, and a gift shop/newspaper stand are available in the hotel lobby.
Leave your luggage with the Baggage Check at a per piece fee/per 24 hours if you're not quite ready to leave the city after check out time (the desk is open 7am-10pm).
