about Historic Main Street District:

The ten-block Historic Main Street District in downtown St. Charles traces its history back 200 years and was the site of Missouri's first designated historic district. The Historic Frenchtown District is adjacent to the Main Street District.

The neighborhood is charming, with a trolley that travels the streets, old and reproduction signs, antique stores, gift and clothing stores, Main Street Books, cafes, coffeehouses, and galleries. The First Missouri State Capitol Historic Site is found here too, as is the Lewis & Clark Boat House and Nature Center.

getting there:

Located along Second, Main, and Riverside from Boone's Lick to Clark Streets.
