Teachers have loved it for years; not long ago, kids (and smart parents) caught on: Holcomb's KnowPlace carries loads of "toys" - sure, they're mostly educational, but almost all are also fun. We've found interesting (and yes, fun) gifts for teachers, kids, and babysitters at Holcomb's, as well as party decorations and favors. And speaking of parties, select Holcomb's stores host birthday celebrations. (At this writing, the Westerville location offered parties; check with your local store to see if it also hosts parties.) In-store parties run for about 90 minutes and the birthday child is the focus, as s/he received a crown and badge to wear and a personalized birthday sign to take home. (The birthday child also enjoys a 20% "shopping spree" in the store.) All children receive goody bags, and a staff member leads theme-related party activities. Staff also handles setup and cleanup. (Whew) Customers should provide at least two adult chaperones, and - if desired, snacks, cake, drinks, and balloons. Parties cost $100 and are designed for up to 10 children.
