Holden Arboretum is a popular natural attraction, especially considering it's a membership-based park in an area rich in "free" parks.
Don't be confused, though: while membership is encouraged (members are admitted free), it is not "members only" institution - anyone can visit Holden by paying the daily non-member admission price.
Holden is popular for many reasons: rare plants, rare beauty, long hiking trails, amazing stroller- and wheelchair-friendly gardens, well-maintained cross country ski trails, and a staff of naturalists and volunteers whose collective knowledge could fill volumes - even whole libraries!
Classes for preschoolers through adults are popular and the selection is varied.
We recommend attending a special event (Holden offers several each year) to see if membership appeals to your family.
