The Honolulu Academy of Arts features an extensive permanent collection of world fine art, interesting temporary exhibits, a theatre, cafe, free wi-fi internet access, and a museum shop. The museum is also family-friendly, with a children's reading room, regular storytimes, and special themed monthly family days with free admission, craft projects, cultural performances, and more. (Be sure not to miss December's special Keiki Christmas celebration!) Admission is also free the first Wednesday of each month; audio tours are available for $5. The affiliated Academy Art Center, on the east side of Thomas Square, offers art classes, workshops, and camps for ages three and up.
tips:
Check out one of the free themed Keiki-Kits at the Visitor Information Center to help kids get the most out of their visits. Children can also visit kids' pages on the museum's website for games and activity ideas before they go!
