If, like me, orange is one of your favorite colors, you'll love Hotel Vertigo. Okay, even if orange isn't a favorite color, if you're a parent who is sick of the same-ole, same-ole floral decor in hotel rooms, you'll love Hotel Vertigo's modern, playful style.
Located halfway between Union Square and Polk Gulch, Hotel Vertigo is a boutique hotel with 102 rooms and suites, housed in a 1920's Art Deco building. As with all of the Personality Hotels, this one is chock-full of - well - personality!
The lobby is "ooh"-worthy, with its high ceilings, fabulous light, majestic art-sofa and ceramic sculptures. The staff is warm and friendly, obviously pleased to welcome families to the place.
We stayed in the Parlour Suite, which was a great set-up: two adjoining rooms, each with its own bathroom and television - parents, you know what a treat this is, right?! The two rooms could easily sleep a family of five, with the kids sharing the Murphy bed at night. During the day, the hide-a-way bed is out of sight, affording lots of room for family board games or dinner space.
Each of the rooms is airy and light, with desk space, free Wifi, flat screen televisions (HBO & pay-per-view), safes, ironing boards, and most conveniently - refrigerators.
Bathrooms are small, but impeccably clean, with a tub/shower combo and lovely organic toiletries. Soft cotton robes add a luxurious touch.
Other amenities include complimentary coffee and tea service in the morning, use of the fitness center at sister property, Hotel Diva, same-day laundry service, Cribs and complimentary newspapers are available upon request. Hotel Vertigo is within walking distance of Union Square or Polk Street shops, restaurants, museums, and movie theaters.
