A unique cultural center situated in
Balboa Park, the
House of Pacific Relations is
a collection of cottages representing 31 countries.
Built for the 1915 Pan-American Exposition, the group's organizational mission is to foster understanding between nationalities within the United States and to
celebrate the cultures of each country represented.
The cottages are open on Sundays throughout the year, with and
each one offers separate programs in which you can participate. For example, the House of Ireland hosts free beginning Irish Step Dancing lessons every Sunday at 10:30am. Many of the cottages are open 11am-3pm on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month as well.
Sunday lawn program: Every Sunday afternoon (12n-4pm) from February through mid-November each nation takes a turn hosting a program, which might include music, dancing, singing, and food. It's a fun way to expose your child to your family's and others' cultural heritage.
