The Houston Metropolitan Dance Company (also known as the "Houston Met") is a professional troupe comprised of versatile dancers who can perform in modern, classical jazz, and contemporary jazz styles. The Company performs at various venues around Houston, including the Wortham Theater Center.
Dance classes for kids ages three and up include ballet, jazz, and tap. A youth training program provides intermediate to advanced-level students (ages 11 and up) an education in becoming professional dancers, as well as opportunities to perform at several venues year-round.
The Houston Met also offers summer intensive classes for intermediate to advanced dancers, ages nine and up.
