The first hotel along
Hotel Row is one of the best. While most of its neighbors are long, narrow buildings full of rooms with no view and minimal pools,
HoJo's is a group of low- and high-rise buildings set among pleasant grounds and landscaping. There are two pool areas, one of which includes a foot-deep kiddie pool and lots of little fountains to run through. The rooms are standard, though very clean and well-maintained. There are only two suites but many connecting rooms. All rooms have a mini-fridge and coffee maker; many have microwave ovens. Surprisingly, for a HoJo's, there's
no restaurant within the hotel, and thus no room service. But Mimi's, located across the street, is a virtual extension of the hotel. Food there is reasonably priced and much tastier than most coffee shops, and the New Orleans theme is great prep for
Pirates of the Caribbean. The hotel also boasts a well-stocked mini-mart, with friendly service and remarkably fair prices, given its captive audience.
