about Huntley Meadows Park:

Considered by many to be one of the finest wildlife watching sites in the Washington metropolitan area, Huntley Meadows Park offers trails through 1,424 acres of forest, meadows, and freshwater wetlands.

Kids will delight in spying turtles, frogs, water snakes, butterflies, and beavers from the boardwalk and observation towers. The park is also an oasis for more than 200 species of birds, including hawks, humming birds, egrets, and herons.

The trails are kid-friendly and wheelchair accessible. Biking is only permitted on the hike-bike trail. The Visitor Center provides an impressive calendar of events and programs for children for all ages. Reservations and a small fee are often required for these events and programs. The Center is closed Tuesdays, Thanksgiving Day, December 25 and January 1; hours vary according to season.
