Independence Visitor Center offers a plethora of
trip planning exhibits and visitor amenities, along with three theaters showing free films about the history of Philadelphia and an orientation to the city and region.
Concierge staff provides visitors with personal service, including a comprehensive daily listing of attractions in Philadelphia and the surrounding region,
on-site ticketing, assistance with hotel and restaurant reservations, and multi-lingual services to help international visitors. User-friendly informational touch-screen computer kiosks describe destinations across the region and offer customized printed directions. Exhibit displays featuring
Independence National Historical Park, the City of Philadelphia, and regional maps and attractions also help guide visitors. Regular
performances by Colonial characters at the
Visitor Center give visitors the opportunity to take an up-close and personal look at history.
The
Center's on-site cafe provides
free wireless internet service throughout the building, so visitors can relax and enjoy a snack or drink, while perusing the web for events going on throughout the region. The Independence Store offers visitors a broad selection of Philadelphia-themed souvenirs and keepsakes.
On Saturday mornings at the
Visitor Center, children and adults alike can enjoy
Breakfast with Ben. Guests can chat with Benjamin Franklin (a costumed interpreter), ask questions about his life and work, and even pose for pictures. A delicious breakfast is served and each participant receives a goodie bag.
Public restrooms, including
baby changing stations and a family restroom, are available. Convenient, 24-hour underground parking and an ATM are also provided; the
Visitor Center is handicap accessible.
