Indian Springs Metropark encompasses 2,215 acres of parkland at the headwaters of the Huron River. Much of the park is dedicated to the preservation and interpretation of the natural environment. The park features an 18-hole golf course, a nature center, a paved hike-bike trail, picnic areas, and a barrier-free tot lot.
In the winter months, families can enjoy sledding and more than 12 miles of groomed cross-country ski trails.
The park's Environmental Discovery Center features 60 acres of native ecosystems including ponds, wetlands, and prairies. A 20,000-square-foot building with classrooms, a biology lab, a 200-person event room, and exhibit areas is the hub of environmental studies. Venture into the EDC's underwater pond viewing room to get a glimpse of fish and other forms of underwater life.
Also new is a Spray 'n' Play, offering innovative play for kids, including a climbing area, a maze, and a waterspray pad. There is a separate play area for toddlers. The Spray 'n' Play is open Memorial Day to Labor Day, Monday through Friday, 10am-6pm, and Saturday and Sunday, 12n-8pm.
