about Insectarium:

The Insectarium is the only all-bug museum in the Philadelphia area. The museum is filled with thousands of mounted insects from all over the world, not to mention the live species on view in naturalized habitats. You might have missed it just passing by in your car or on foot - the sign outside reads Steve's Bug Off.

In addition to the collections on view, kids can touch and hold a Madagascar hissing cockroach, a Whip-Tail Scorpion, and/or a giant African millipede, and eat some tasty mealworms - all in one field trip!

If birthday parties drive you buggy, you can set one up here. Parties can be held on Saturdays at 10am, 12n, or 2pm, or weekday afternoons, and include a personalized museum program for your group and a birthday celebration in the museum's Buggy Party Room.

The party experience can be enhanced with all kinds of buggy crafts, for a small additional fee, and you can also opt for museum goodie bags...if you dare.

getting there:

Take I-95 North to the Cottman avenue exit. Follow Cottman Ave (Route 73) until you come to Frankford Avenue. There you make a right turn onto Frankford Avenue and follow to 8046 Frankford Avenue. The Insectarium is on your left side between Rhawn Street and Welsh Road.
