About International Children's Choir
The motto of the International Children's Choir (ICC) is to welcome the world through song. Participants receive voice training, learning songs in many languages and styles. For performances, choir members wear authentic colorful costumes from around the world. In addition to public concerts, the choir performs for heads of state, ambassadors, and international dignitaries, and has traveled to places such as Italy, Germany, Austria, and Hungary to perform.
Each year, the ICC holds two semester-long classes and one summer camp. Semester classes focus on voice training and choir, while the summer camp allows students to explore additional areas such as folk dance, handbells, yoga, Orff instruments, art, and various cultures.
Auditions are held by appointment or at summer camp. Children ages five through 17 are welcome to audition. Call or check the choir's website for details.
Rehearsal locations are in Sandy, Sugar House, and Bountiful.

- My 12-year-old son has been singing with the International Children's Choir for over a year now. During that time he has enjoyed incredible opportunities--singing for visiting ambassadors and first ladies, participating at the rededication of the State Capitol and the International Rotary Convention, singing with the Atlanta Boy Choir and a famous choir of Chinese children from Beijing, making recordings and auditioning for a part in the Elijah oratorio... He loves his folk costume and meeting people from other countries. I thought he would soon tire of the rehearsals (two or three 2-hour practices a week), but he loves it! He comes home singing and wouldn't think of missing a rehearsal or a performance. The environment is supportive, not competitive. He just loves the other children in the choir. The musical arrangements are beautiful, and the choir director has an amazing talent for inspiring the children to do their best. This choir has done so much for my son's confidence and singing ability! I can't recommend it highly enough.

[Submitted by Suzanne B.2/18/08 - My oldest son has been a member of the International Children's Choir for 3 years now, and I just can't say enough how much it has been a joy not only for him, but for our entire family. He absolutely loves to be able to sing in so many different languages and is especially excited to be able to wear the 'costume' of his native heritage (which his grandmother made for him). The opportunities to meet, sing for and interact with foreign sovereignty, and dignitaries, are so exciting and life changing. There have been many who have been touched by the beautiful spirits of these children, to the point of tears. I have four younger children who learn the songs right along with my oldest, and love to say they can sing in different languages too. For anyone thinking of getting their children into something musical, I would so strongly suggest checking out this Choir.

[Submitted by Mrs.Mahe4/23/07 - I can't say enough good things about this wonderful organization. My daughter has been a member of this choir for five years, and it has been an amazing experience. Dr. Sorensen, the choir director has a way of teaching and getting the perfect sound that still gives me chills after 5 years. I have seen 6 year old children memorize 18 pages of German in Schubert's Serenade and do it with ease, because of Dr. Sorensen's musical genius. The thing I like the most about the choir is how the children touch visitors from foreign lands. I have seen grown men in tears as they hear the children sing in the language of their home land. When my daughter first auditioned for the choir she was a shy 10 year old, now she can sing with confidence in front of thousands. I love how Dr. Sorensen has the older students help mentor the newer children. The children develop so many skills in other areas along with an amazing background in music. The International Children's Choir recently returned from the World Choir Olympics in Xiamen China where they competed against 20,000 singers, 500 choirs, 80 nations. They won 2 gold certificates and 2 bronze medals. My daughter and I were privileged to go on this trip. It was so wonderful to watch the children as they sang in many languages and represented the USA and Utah. They were seen nightly on Chinese National Television and heard on the radio. It was an experience that was life changing. Friendships were made with people all over the world. The International Children's choir does such good. They make such beautiful music and are truly are ambassadors to the world !
