I forgot to mention they provide Super Soccer Stars classes for all kids every week, plus YogiBeans yoga class and music class, they also serve fresh fruit and Trader Joe's snacks. It's a great value for a working mom like me. On top of all that my kids get to spend a lot of time outside playing, my friend told me her local daycare only takes their classes out for 15min. at a time. At JHELC my kids go out to play for longer periods of time and usually more than once a day.

I could not have worked full time at my hectic job without JHELC, the teachers are professional, warm and nurturing. That's what I wanted for my children. My son entered the school almost non-verbal, his language exploded after attending for a couple of months. My kids enter the school with a smile and sometimes they don't want to leave! I'm thankful for the service Rachel and Tammy provide for this community and I know they are working hard to make JHELC the best childcare facility in the nabe. I am shocked by some of the negative posts here because my experience with JHELC has been very positive in contrast with my friends and their horror stories from other providers in the area.

We feel very fortunate to have found this early learning center. I have found the staff to be attentative to my son especially on the days when he cries and throws a fit when I leave. I get photos of how he doing and the director takes the time to call when it has been a difficult morning on departure. I am thankful for the love they give my son.

This preschool is okay. It's not like it's dirty or the teachers are irresponsible - it's just that the staff seems fairly uninvolved and, as some other people have posted here, the people in charge easily become defensive and hostile. Kids go there and do fine, but I think you can do better.

My daughter attended this center and will not be returning. The administration was not at all receptive to questions or suggestions from us. The director was rarely around. Some other parents that we've spoken to have voiced similar concerns. It seems as though only parents who are of like mind with the administration get any service. Sorry, but one of the things we're teaching our child is tolerance, respect for and the ability to discuss /understand different people / ideas. That is sadly absent here.

This is my second child that has attended this quality preschool. My daughter will have the same teacher that my son did three years ago. I choose this facility because of the up front response I received from the adminstration. They play yard is just that, an outdoor space, that is hard to come by in this nabe. I'll take the flies that come along with nature! I would highly recommend this facility and can't wait to send my child back!

Going down hill fast. Most of the teachers who were good have left the program. The administration is never there and are hostile when there is any sort of problem. The St Marks program especially in the summer will often remind you of Lord of the Flies. Also check their Health Dept violations. They have had many major violations that are concerning.

I love this school and so does my son! Sometimes I can't get him to leave. The teachers are attentive and go far beyond their call of duty to make each child feel welcomed and loved. It feels good to go to work and know that my child is in good hands.

As I read the reviews here, I can not believe this is the same school my daughter attended this past year. While the teacher Oskana was very nice, most of the staff, particularly the administration, were so out of touch with the students they did not know even know my child's last name when I had to come pick her after another child struck her.

I love St.Marks and I wouldn't want my child at any other place. The staff is friendly and attentive and there love for the children really shows.

JHELC is an amazing place for children to learn and grow! The staff is wonderful and they make the children feel like they are home!!

I must honestly say that JHELC has been an excellent place for my son to be nurtured and learn through enriched play which this school has built its foundation on. In fact, he has developed so much socially, emotionally, physically and academically all under the guidance of committed directors and teachers. I strongly believe that these skills will lay a foundation to my sons' success in school and in life and I am so fortunate to have stumbled on such a great place. Additionally, not only is this a great preschool it is a beating heart that has brought families in the community together and has cultivated lasting friendships among our children.

We recently moved from FL and one of the things that concerned us the most was to find a place where our son would feel comfortable attending. We passed by one day and saw all the kids having some playtime in the yard and feeling attracted by this, our kid asked us to go in. Then we had a clue we might had found the right place. Hes now attending summer camp and loves it! Now every morning he wakes up asking to take him to "school". It is such a relief to see he is happy there, the vibe that we get from the place itself and the teachers is just phenomenal!! We're looking forward to start him on regular classes on september, and sure we are that it wont be dissapointing.. Great feeling!!

This school was more then we could have ever hoped for. From the loving and amazing teachers to the dedicated director, this school offered our daughter, not only a great place to learn and have fun - but a love for school that has set her on a wonderful path. This school is both nurturing and supportive. The experienced and individualized attention that all the children get is incomparable. When it comes to your children's first school you always want the best, and choosing JHELC gave us a peace of mind. Also the great advice you get as a parent from the teachers and the directors is invaluable. We were extremely pleased and recommend it highly.

My daughter has been attending this center since she was in diapers and is now graduating from the center. During this time, she has learned not only the basic academic skills needed for PreK, but also, so much about other cultures and beliefs. She is still singing "Gung Hey Fat Choi" and talks about the potato latka's that one of the mothers made for the class. I really appreciate all the time and dedication the teachers put into making the curriculum as unique as they do, my daughter has gained from it!

We have been attending Jackson Heights ELC from the beginning of last September. I was refered by a parent who has her daughter enrolled in the program. My child's teachers have always been friendly, they have great activities and their outdoor play area is fantastic. My child loves the outdoor playground and his school so much it takes me half an hour to convince him to go home. I only wish they were open on Tuesdays.

...every morning to get to Jackson Heights ELC. He loves it and has been attending since September when he was only 2. The facility is bright and cheerful. The teachers use all the children's artwork to make them feel at home and the children are surrounded by age-appropriate activities for their free-play time from wooden blocks to a kitchen set to easels and crayons. My son has grown tremendously this year and has been challenged by his teachers. He walks around during the day rhyming words, counting to 20, and singing 'school songs, esp. the ABC's. The school even graciously helped me through potty training, which was a huge relief to me. When he was in the 2-year-old class, there were 10 children in his group. Then when he 'graduated' to the other side with the big kids, the group of 3-4 year olds grew to a max of 20. The teachers and aids (3-4 of them!) helped me transition him and were responsive to his unique needs as one of the youngest students. He really loves going to school, and I love the community of children and parents that the school fosters. My mother who has taught in early childhood education thinks that it is amazing how the school has such a warm community feeling for our little ones - a truly necessary component to a 2-4 year olds first school experience!

My child had the misfortune to attend this location for 4 months. As a teacher myself, I am amazed at the lack of supervision during the first "free play" periods. (Group size, at least as of last year, often exceded 10 per group.) My son actually developed bad habits there. Met other parents in the supermarket afterwards who felt the same way.
