Often the scene of family-friendly events and activities, Thompson Center combines state agencies and offices with a commercial area of shops and restaurants. This unique building also features a State of Illinois Gallery, Illinois Artisans Shop, and one of the largest collections of contemporary Illinois artworks. Public art is everywhere, and the galleries hold good collections in all kinds of media. Mostly, though, kids love going up and down in the glass elevators!
