The
Japanese American Cultural and Community Center, in the middle of
Little Tokyo, is the largest ethnic cultural center in the country.
Its mission is to promote the appreciation and preservation of Japanese and Japanese American culture and heritage, which it does by sponsoring
dance and theatre programs, and annual events and
festivals, celebrating all things Japanese.
The
JACCC building is worth a visit for the wonderful
James Irvine Garden, a beautifully serene Japanese-style garden that is one of the treasures of Little Toyko.
The
JACCC is also the home of the
Center Gift Shop, featuring a gorgeous, but expensive, selection of jewelry, fabrics, and porcelain created by Japanese American artists.
JACCC sponsors events and exhibitions in the
Japanese American Theatre, and in the
George J. Doizaki Gallery; check our calendar for information on festivals, programs and workshops of interest to
families and children.
Membership: $50 Family Membership offers discounts for up to 4 people on registration fees for workshops, lecture demonstrations and select JACCC activities, discounts for up to 4 people to select JACCC performances at the Japan America Theatre, and an invitation to a special JACCC Family Members' program.
