Jetty Island is a two-mile long, man-made island located near US Naval Station Everett. Its sandy beaches and shallow warm water provide a wonderful water spot for children. The City of Everett offers free daily ferry service to the island each summer. Check the website for open dates each year.
Restrooms and a ranger station are the island's only amenities, but the absence of man-made structures only serves to enhance the island's natural beauty and serenity.
The island is home to more than 45 bird species, as well as salmon and waterfowl, making it an excellent location to view local wildlife. The best birding locations are the sand beach on the west side of the island and the middle tidal lagoon. The island is also a great spot for kite flying.
We've found ourselves with plenty of company whenever we've visited, but the island still offers a sense of peace and solitude.
Naturalists offer daily interpretive tours of the island at 12:15pm and 3:15pm, and Everett Parks and Recreation hosts events and programs throughout the summer.
