Jim Herrick's Swim School offers private lessons to children 18 months and older in two different pools.
The Herrick method of swim instruction was started by Jim Herrick in 1963 and is taught at the school by Herrick himself, or by teachers trained by him. The first style taught is the dog paddle, to achieve water safety, then the four competitive strokes starting with freestyle, then backstroke, breastroke, and butterfly.
The school offers a pre-team class for children who want to learn how to swim laps and get ready to join a swim team. There are also mommy and me classes for children under the age of 18 months.
