Founded in 1886, John Carroll University (JCU) is a Catholic, Jesuit university dedicated to developing women and men with the knowledge and character to lead and to serve. JCU has been listed in U.S. News & World Report magazine's top-ten rankings of Midwest regional universities for 13 consecutive years. JCU offers degree programs in more than 30 major fields of the arts, social sciences, natural sciences and business at the undergraduate level, and in selected areas at the master's level. Approximately 3,200 undergraduate students and 850 graduate students are enrolled at the university; it boasts a faculty-to-student ratio of 1:14.
