The winner of our 2008 Parents' Picks quest to find Pittsburgh's Best Artsy Class for Little Kids and recipient of our 2009 Parents' Picks Award for Best Dance Class in Pittsburgh, Joy School of Dance aims to help young people realize the "joy" of dance, and instill knowledge of dance technique and style, muscle control, music appreciation, and an attuned respect for the arts.
Classes are available (for children as young as three) in ballet, pointe, tap, jazz, modern, hip-hop, musical theater, and acting. Pilates and yoga classes are provided for adults and kids ages 15 and up. Week-long summer programs are also offered, and Joy School of Dance serves as home for the three-week, intensive Vaganova Summer School program for committed dancers at an intermediate, advanced, or pre-professional level.
Several in-studio, dance-themed party packages are available. Each includes 90 minutes of dance fun, pizza, cake, and more.
