Joy Theater is the bomb. If you have kids that are new to showbiz and Hollywood, or they want to be, or even if you've been in town for a while, Joy is the place to be for kids improv. Being a part of Joy is great, and they become and are like family. Try them out, you'll be happy you did and your kids will love it and have a place where they are comfortable, challenged, and truly cared about!

Joy Theater has been incredible for putting a structure around my boys enthusiasm. They go to Joy Theater to play games and have fun on stage without realizing they are building their self confidence, thinking on their toes and poise. My 5 year old covered his eyes the entire time the first time he was part of the show. Now he is front and center trying not to giggle his way through what he wants to say.

My kids just had the best time there, as did I.

This is the most entertaining activity to do with or without your children. Unique and humerous entertainment, the children are adorable as they refine their improvisation skills. Drop in for a show sometime, you'll be glad you did! (Bring cash)

My daughters have been going to Joy Theatre since they were 4. It has helped them grow and overcome shyness. And just be silly in a safe environment. They put on some great Improv comedy.

We couldn't be happier with Joy Theatre, exceeded far beyond all expectations! They go above and beyond teaching, they are great role models, and they welcome you into their hearts and homes. It is hard if not impossible not to fall in love with Josh and Janiece and little Grace.

Janiece and Josh are simply amazing!! Whether you are looking to help your child get out of their shell, looking for a good laugh, supporting or encouraging creativity, you will find all of these and more. I have enjoyed many of their shows and I encourage everyone to stop by and check them out.

I have 3 children that attend Joy Theatre. (Sunday Funnies/Saturday Riots) They have shows every 10 weeks and the kids love it. The games and exercises have helped my children open up and show their personalities. Joy Theatre is great for children who are shy/quiet and want to break out of their shell and for children who would like to become actors and actresses someday! A Wonderful Program!

I've attended several of both the children's Giggle Gaggle improv shows at 2pm on Sundays and the teen's detention span shows at 5pm on Sundays and I would highly recomend Giggle Gaggle for younger kids humor or the teen show for humor that both teens and adults will enjoy. These kids realy make me laugh and the Director, Josh Minnick, really knows how to bring out the best of comedy from his performers.

My shy 6 year old son just did his first "performance" (every 10 weeks) yesterday and had the time of his life! the Improv exercises they do are SO beneficial in many areas of life- making them think on their feet and a bit out of the box! i'm SO impressed with Joy Theatre it SO GREATLY exceeded my expectations and amazes me everytime i see them in action! BRAVO!

I have seen both the Giggle Gaggle performers and Detention Span performers, they are both truly wonderful. I went with my family a few weeks apart to watch both saturday & sunday, hilarious throughout! I will definitely be going back again.

Joy Theatre is such a bright spot for kids & adults in NOHO. What a fantastic opportunity for kids & teens to hone their comedy/acting skills! Josh & Janiece are incredibly talented and accomplished themselves, and as instructors, their generosity, creativity and patience is remarkable. We've known them for about 14 years and couldn't be more fond of them...and little Gracie.

My 5 year old absolutely loves Joy Theatre. We drive up from Orange County to go on Saturdays. My daughter has learned a great deal of self confidence since going to Joy Theatre. The instructors are very hands on and genuinely care about the kids they teach. We're grateful for such a great program!!!

Joy Theatre is aptly named. Truly. Not only are the shows thoroughly entertaining, but a true feeling of 'joy' permeates the entire program. Janiece and Josh bring a level of professionalism and a creative spark to these children that is most impressive. And the kids ROCK!

Love the shows.The kids and teens play the same kind of improv games that adults play. The younger kids always perform with an instructor who is there to support them and make them look good. The classes and the teachers are wonderful. I love this for kids, and I REALLY love it for teens. Between 12 and 15, a teen is sort of stuck waiting for a drivers license. These classes allow teens to be part of a group that is creating something funny. I think it does good things for your ego to make other people laugh. Go Joy!

I have been attending joy theatre for about a year. Not only is it a great experience for performers but also its great fun. Josh and Janiece are fantastic, and make everyone feel welcome. Joy theater has definitely become an important part of my life... YaY Joy Theatre !

We've tried countless theatres all over Los Angeles, but none have worked for our family the way Joy Theatre has! The kids are crazy, open, friendly and exciting to watch week after week along with all of the teachers. It really has a family feel. Josh, Janiece, Stephanie, and the rest of them make each and every child feel welcome and within one class I saw my child's stagefright dramatically lessen and now its to the point where he comes home singing the Joy Theatre song. I cannot express how important this theatre and the people in it are to our family.

my son has been attending for 6 years and has gained much from the experience. Kids learn things that not only build their skill as performers, but also things they take with them off stage to become happier, more confident people in their daily lives. The shows are very funny and done in an environment of complete acceptance and love. For kids who dont want to perform, watching the show is a fun experience, since they identify with performers their own age. Joy Theatre was our kids first stop when coming to LA for showbiz and remains our favorite. We've also referred other parents with kids in the biz to Joy after they've come from other Improv shops for kids, and they also tell us Joy is the best.

What sets Joy Theatre apart from the crowd is:
-The staff are all working actors, many with kids themselves that are also in the biz; they know the game and always share their experiences and advice to help guide.
-They are always there to help with the many things and decisions you make as a parent of a kid actor
-They are VERY welcoming to both newbies, pros, and especially kids who just want to have fun doing improv.

If you want an outlet for all that energy; if you want to develop more confidence in your kids; if your kids are little hams and love to perform; and especially if you are new to LA and here for your kid to act professionally, Joy Theatre is the place to be. Your kid will play with working professional kid actors, and also with kids just there having fun. Its a welcoming place and they will become your family.

I've seen other kids type improvisation groups, but this one is truly outstanding. You can see the love the instructors have, the patience, and professionalism. These kids I guess perform to the best of their abilities and the directors help them to shine. All the while, we're laughing until we cried. Great for families of all ages. We came back later for the Teenager Group....very teen but my kids still really enjoyed. I think that even though it's improvisation and stand up, I'm sure it has the possibility to not be funny, but not the day we went, and they're still cute.

My 11 year old son is in one of the Improv classes here and absolutely loves it - both the instructor and teacher's aide are hysterically funny, fabulous with kids, endlessly patient and get the kids to blossom weekly. They even get to perform in front of an audience every 10 weeks. My son plans to join the teenage group ("Detention Span") when he gets older - I could see this being something he does 'til he goes to college (and beyond?) He doesn't have an agent, doesn't think he wants to be an actor, but just loves being funny and creative with a bunch of like-minded kids.

I brought my daughter and friends to see "Detention Span" for her 11th birthday. The cast and staff made a special effort to include her in the skits and activities. I felt like the whole show revolved around her! They had a great time and loved seeing her picture and Happy Birthday wishes on the back cover of the "playbill". We had dinner after the show at pit fire pizza at their recommendation. It was close by (walking distance) and the outdoor patio was fun. The food wasn't very kid friendly but it worked. Overall it was a unique, fun party for the girls and I appreciate their efforts to make it special for her. (Bring cash; they don't take credit cards)
