Kehler's Gymnastic Center and Kids Fun Factory4519

I was really looking for something different for my son and his friends to do for his 9th birthday party. Tommy said he wanted to try rock climbing but I was not real excited about taking him to a place where adults are climbing. Then I found Kehlerâ??s Survival Island Rock and Roll Party. They specialize in kids parties and no adults allowed. Everything is geared towards kids. Survival Island is apparently designed to make it easier for kids to enjoy rock climbing. There is a 20 foot high rock wall the kids can climb with helmets and belay ropes and smaller walls for climbing games. Tommy liked the crystal rock wall made of glass that you can see right through while you climb up, and the immense in ground foam pit they used for races. After climbing the huge cargo net they gave the kids a turn on the bouncer and the trampolines. This was a real unique party event and different from the usual stuff kids do. It was not their cheapest package so it will cost a bit more, but for my money, Kehlerâ??s Rocks!

My friend has had her kids in Kehlerâ??s Day Camp for several years and she kept pesting me to try it out. Finally this past summer I did sign up my 4 year old and 9 year old boys. Nathan & Josh had a blast. Bouncers, trampolines, karate, ball pits & tunnels, rock climbing, and all sorts of stuff under one roof. I donâ??t know how they manage to do this for such a cheap price. This is cheaper than our twp. Parks & Rec. Camp but itâ??s so much better! I hope they never figure out that their prices are so low compared to everyone else cause my boys came home so excited I had to sign them up for 4 more weeks. Oh yeah, thatâ??s another thing. You donâ??t have to sign up for the whole summer, you can just sign up for the weeks you want. I would encourage any parent who want lots of fun at a summer camp without paying big prices to look into this one.

Yesterday I visited the Kids Fun Factory and I was just delighted. There were lots of great play activities for my 2 year old and I. She loved climbing through the tunnels and playing in the ball pits. Sarah was the young woman supervising and she was very friendly and showed us the special tot area which is reserved for children 3 and under. I was especially impressed with how clean the facility was. I see why Kehlerâ??s won Best of Philly. Weâ??ll definitely be back!

I've had my kids at Kehler's doing gymnastics classes for over five years and I've always been thrilled with their program. The staff are always kind and patient. Alyssa, at the desk, is wonderful and always takes the time to help me any time I have a question. Reggie and Jaime could not be better making the classes challenging and fun! Most of the teachers I've seen have been at Kehler's longer than I have. That's one of the best things, my kids feel like their coach is their best friend since they see them every week! My three kids love it there and they have learned so much. I have been to other gyms for parties and such, and Kehler's is shiney, bright and clean always! Not like other gyms at all! Kehler's is definitely, for my kids, the BEST place to go!!!

When I saw the price for Kehler's Spring Break Holiday Camp, I was surprised since it was so inexpensive. This place really understands that families are on a budget. My kids came home yesterday all smiles and full of excitement. Now they want to go all summer. The staff were so patient when my youngest had a bit of trouble getting started, but by the end of the day she was right in there bouncing and climbing with her older sister. There's so much to do! Rock climbing, gymnastics, ball pits, bouncers, and crafts. They can't wait to go back this summer! I'm telling all my friends!

I can't believe they hire such wonderful people. We started March 12th and met a sweet girl named Tina. She was great with the kids. After gymnastics she played with the kids in the Fun Factory. Tina is friendly and nice. What a great place and wonderful people!

I sign my two children up for gymnastics. When we went for the first time it was horrible! The place was really dirty and the employees were so rude to me. Every week my children learned the same thing and had a different teacher. I would never go back there again.

I must be honest, I was nervous before my party yesterday. However, all of my worries were completely unnecessary. The staff is truly competent and, for lack of a better word, fantastic! I had heard stories about how great these guys were, but now I am a believer. I can not remember our "party host's" name, but she was great. The minute I got there I understood the whole process (because of her!) and my stress melted away. The girls doing the gymnastics with the party were upbeat and friendly (like they actually like their job, imagine that!). Our party host had a few snags, but she handled them promptly and professionally, I had no idea. I would (and will) recommend this venue to every parent that I come in contact with. Yes, the place is hectic, but there is definitely a controlled chaos. Thank you so much for a wonderful experience.

My son, who was at the JCC Y was told by them to try Kehler's because he needed to be challenged more and Kehler's supposedly has a good boys program. We started 3 weeks ago and Mr. Keller gave me a tour and introduced me to Mr. Reggie, the boy's coach. Wow! They were both so enthusiastic with my son and Reggie really makes the classes fun! He gets silly with the kids but keeps them focused on serious learning. What a great natural teacher! My son did a back handspring for the first time by himself last week and everyone stopped and cheered! He was so proud. I love that the class is all boys, working on real men's gym equipment with a male instructor. What a wonderful change from other programs we have tried where they only cater to girls. I'm so glad we tried Kehler's. We're going to book a party at Kehler's soon so my son can share all this with his friends! I can't speak for anything else they do, but if you have boys in gymnastics, I seriously suggest you try Kehler's

Wow! We've never had a better time than we did yesterday at Kehler's. My two boys were guests at a party and they really knew how to make it fun for kids. My youngest was a little nervous about rock climbing but Bobby, the coach, took time to make him feel right at home. After the party the young lady who was the party host was very careful to see that each child was returned safely to the parents. Really made me feel good about the quality of care here. I will be back! Best party we've evr attended.

I would like to take a moment to address some of the other comments posted here on GoCityKids. First, we strongly encourage customers to review our website before they come to confirm our hours, see a current program schedule, and better understand the admission guidelines. General admission is ONLY available for the Kids Fun Factory. Survival Island (a rock and ropes challenge) is used mostly for parties, camps, and group visits; that's clearly stated on our website. (We would never advertise something and then not have it available to customers.) While we do have wonderful inflatables, rock climbing, and other activities, we feel these activities are best suited for parties and other groups. While there are days when we need to change our closing times, the website clearly lists 4:30pm as the weekend closing time; it's also posted on our front door. Parents may want to call before coming on the weekends, as our schedule does sometimes change. In regards to weekday vs. weekend visits: Many parents who visit Kehler's on weekdays and then try a weekend visit are surprised by the difference. If you prefer quiet, weekdays are certainly the best time to visit, but Saturdays from 9am to 12:30pm, Sundays from 11:30am to 12:30pm or 1pm, and after 3:30pm or 4pm on Saturday or Sunday are also not usually as busy. While parents may prefer to sit quietly, a busy, well-supervised room is often more fun for the kids. Kehler's does tend to be busier when the weather is inclement and when kids are not in school. To a parent on the sidelines, the energy produced during busier times might seem as if the kids are "feeding off of each other." We, however, see it as an opportunity to engage as many kids as possible in group games where the more participating, the merrier! Our staff is educated in training clinics where we practice these games and design strategies to keep busy days safe and fun. Our roomy, 2,500-square-foot balcony area offers plenty of space for many parents to relax, and a 20-foot exposure to the playground. Seating is also available on the main floor to the side and rear of the Kids Fun Factory Area. I believe the reader who mentioned our use of duct tape to repair our mats may have been thinking of an experience at another gym. Using duct tape on equipment would be a seriously dangerous practice and we simply don't do it. The equipment at Kehler's is professionally manufactured and always kept in the best condition possible. Some parents use the word "teenager" to describe the staff at our facility. I would encourage parents to talk to our clean-cut young adults and not prejudge them. They are often college students who have a keen desire to help children; many are majoring in elementary education, psychology, nursing, and special education. Their youth gives them additional energy to handle kids of all sorts of abilities and needs. We're very proud to have them on our team. While we understand that other facilities sometimes place 10, 15, or more kids with one teacher, that practice is not followed at Kehler's Gymnastics. We never put more than four to six children in a class group. Our instructors are all certified by the USAG and are also required to pass an in-depth Kehler's Coach Certification. Our policy regarding party scheduling is clearly stated. In our experience (we've done more than 20,000 kids' parties), most kids need about 10 minutes to eat, so 30 minutes in the party room is usually more than enough for most parties. If a party experience is not turning out as you'd hoped, please speak to me (I'm usually here for all parties) or the manager on duty. We want you to have a great time and relax. I enrolled my daughter in a toddler gymnastics program when she about 2 1/2. The class was very small, which was nice; each kid got a good amount of attention. I wasn't overly impressed with the gym or its staff, however. I wish the teenaged instructor had done more to integrate the children. Some of the little girls in my daughter's class knew each other beforehand and excluded her from playing on some of the equipment during open play time. The instructor did nothing to address the problem. Also, some of the soft tumbling equipment was old and had been repaired with duct tape. (This was circa 2000; I'm sure things have improved since then!) We found other gymnastics programs (with adult staff!) that we liked a lot better.

For the first time we stopped by there for a play on Sunday. The only place that my kids (ages four and eight) were allowed to play was the Survival Island. Forget about the Inflatable Obstacle Course or Foam Lagoon; they look very good on their website pictures, but were not accessible to the children. I found that it was very difficult to watch your children because there is no place where the parents can settle on the main floor. There is a mezzanine where you can stay while your children play but if there are five or six parents watching their children, you won’t be able to watch yours. To top it all off the kids were kicked out of the "island" at 4:30pm. I’ve asked if the staff was aware that the website advertises that the place is opened till 5pm; of course they did not know that. Never again...

I've had my kids at several places in the area including the Upper Main Line Y and Philadelphia Gymnastics Center, but nobody has given my kids the sort of personal attention we get at Kehler's. The classes are always small, with only four or five kids per instructor. My oldest daughter struggled for two years at the Y to learn a back handspring, and after four lessons at Kehler's she's doing them all by herself! These coaches are the best! They really understand how to get make learning fun, which makes my kids want to try harder.

We had our daughter enrolled at Kehler's for two years and found that the classes were always over-crowded and instructors often lacked the skills to keep the kids in order and engaged. Our daughter received more constructive gymnastics instruction at the Main Line YMCA over one summer session than the two whole years she was at Kehler's.

A few weeks ago, we stoped by on a Saturday just to play and my kids had a great time. Everyone on the staff was so nice, we booked my daughter's Fifth Birthday Party for last weekend. This place is unbelievable. The kids played on bouncers, trampolines, rock climbing, and ball pits! Best of all, Kehler's is the cleanest kids' play place we've ever visited and there's apparently always a staff member at the front door to make sure the kids can't leave without their parents. My daughter and her friends had fun and I knew they were safe.

Having visited the Fun Factory MANY times, I know plenty about Kehler's. When it's not crowded with birthday party goers (which is on weekdays during school hours), this place is great. During party times, rainy days, no-school days, etc., it is nuts; the kids feed off that and become lunatics. We hosted a birthday party here and I would describe it as very rushed - factory-like. Teen employees are your interface and they apparently answer to a very tough boss, so they do not bend the rules. We had family travel far to attend this party, and we were all rushed through our half-hour time to eat. It felt like a "give me your check we got other parties coming in" approach. I can say that this place is really a gymnastics school that enjoys a great reputation for that program.

Avoid this place on the weekends at all costs. It is noisy, overcrowded, and disorganized. There doesn't seem to be any regard given to the total number of children and adults in the Fun Factory or the total weight of children playing on the equipment at any one time. What supervision exists is provided by teenagers who do not intervene when aggressive, older children barrel into the area reserved for very young children. I visited this place on a weekday and had a wonderful time, but on the weekends I have found it to be daunting and dangerous.

I had my son's 4th birthday party there and the kids had a blast! There were 15 preschoolers and the staff at Kehler's took it all in stride. They even had the party area set up and ready to serve the pizza we had when playtime was over. The only negative (and slight at that) is that it was a bit too easy for the kids to leave the play area and go to lobby out front. I would have liked to see that a bit more controlled. Overall, a great place & price and I would recommend to anyone!
