Kellogg Park is located in a grassy expanse that runs parallel to La Jolla Shores. A popular place to picnic, you'll have to get there early to stake your claim or be ready to fend off the crowds. The park has two fantastic play structures - one geared toward the younger set, the other for the older ones. There are swings, elaborate climbing structures, a pulley, and dolphins to ride. Best of all, it's a stone's throw from the water and lies at the edge of the grass and parking lot, making it a perfect transitional spot. A short wall on the east side of the playground is embedded with handmade tiles by local donors. See if you can spot the Cat in the Hat, donated by Dr. Suess (the late Theodor Geisell of La Jolla).
