The first indication you're in no ordinary restaurant is the sign requesting that you please take off your shoes at the door. This may be your child's favorite part. But it gets better. Once you've padded into the restaurant, past silk hangings, exotic figurines, and vases, you settle cross-legged before a very low table. Other more standard seating arrangements are available if you'd prefer, but what makes this restaurant appealing to many kids is how different it is. The food is good, too, with plenty of mild options to choose from, and the waitstaff is gentle with children. The only problem you might run into is resistance from other diners, who come here in part for its quiet. For that reason, bring children only if they're old enough to behave and sit quietly throughout the meal. If going Friday or Saturday night, a reservation is required for parties of three or more.
