Kids on 45th is a favorite consignment store and fixture on Wallingford's main drag that offers half consignment and half new clothes (from nice specialty labels such as Red Rhino and Spuds, among others) for kids sizes 0-14.
Consignment items are heavy on the clothes, lighter on large items like strollers, high chairs, and big toys. New kids' clothes are colorful and pricey, with a nice choice between the sweet and the hip. Prices for consigned clothes are very reasonable, probably the most reasonable in the area.
Consignment policy: By appointment only; in-store credit is issued for half of what an item sells for; clothes must be clean and seasonal - call to find out what the store is taking.
tips:
Check out the dollar rack inside - there are deals to be had if you have the patience to rummage through lots of clothes.
getting there:
From I-5: Exit NE 45th/NE 50th Street (#169), and follow N 45th westbound to the Wallingford QFC, with its big neon sign, on the north side of 45th. Store is on the north side of the street, west of the QFC. Tight street parking and heavy traffic at times. Public transportation: Served by Metro bus routes 16,44, and 82.

I'm a real "regular" at Kids on 45th...and have been stylishly outfitting my 2 and 4 year old there almost exclusively since they were born. You have to go often but you'll be amazed at the finds....much more worth it if you consign there and can use your credit toward your purchases.
I have always loved this store. They have the best quality consignment (they are very picky) at fabulous prices. I would highly recommend it to any Seattle parent. They also have a nice game and toy selection and 1/2 the store is new. You can use the consignment to buy new clothes and in fact get a discount if you do so. That is my favorite part. The new clothes are so nice too, with super high end brands like Baby Rhino and Baby Bjorn. The only place to shop in Seattle. The only bad thing I can say about the store is that it is in a very small space and is extremely crowded. Don't plan on rushing in and having a quick shopping trip. Take your time, best time to go (it can get very busy and crowded, is around 3-4 pm).
I received a recommendation to check out this store and was disappointed by the size and selection. While there were some items of interest, I would rate the overall selection extremely limited. Not a place I would go out of my way to visit again.
They really seem to price the second hand stuff to sell. They pack a lot of gear in the shop so there's not much space to move around and you have to park your stroller outside where there's not much space either.
