With more than 20 exhibits to explore, Kidspace Children's Museum invites young visitors to try the Raindrop and Wisteria Climbers (scale climbing platforms sculpted into the form of raindrops and a wisteria vine that soar 40 feet into the air), uncover plant and animal fossils native to the Pasadena Arroyo Seco in The Dig exhibit, take a tandem trike ride through the Wisteria Courtyard, create an earthquake by pushing large tectonic plates against each other in The Quake Zone, and more.
During warm months, parents might be wise to pack water shoes and clothing that can get wet: The outdoor creek is simply too inviting not to jump in, and in the front courtyard, misters and fountains playfully squirt passerby. The museum absolutely encourages splashing around but does require that children have water shoes on at all times.
Paid admission is not required to visit the Busy Bee Learning Store, a gift shop buzzing with a wide range of books, toys, crafts and games designed to educate, stimulate and inspire young minds of all ages. Paid admission is also not required to enjoy the healthy snacks and refreshments available at the kid-friendly Nestle Cafe by Wolfgang Puck Catering, open 11am-3pm daily.
Kidspace also offers birthday party packages, starting at $650. Parties include admission to Kidspace for the entire day of the party for up to 50 guests; Kidspace party invitations and thank you cards; two hours in the Celebration Center with signature Kidspace party games and crafts led by Kidspace staff, plus play time with trunks full of imaginative toys such as Build-a-Bug, animal puppets, and dress-up clothes; Kidspace plates, cups, napkins, forks, and spoons for up to 50 guests; and Kidspace goody bags and balloons for up to 40 children.
Kidspace summer camps are definitely worth checking out, as well.
