about Knauss Berry Farm:

Knauss Berry Farm is known for its fresh produce, baked goods, and milkshakes. Locals drive for miles for strawberry shakes, but other flavors like mango, chocolate, raspberry, and vanilla are also available. Ice cream sundaes and cones are must-tries. Also famous for its cinnamon buns, the on-premise bakery makes cakes, pies, and breads. Don't miss the homemade guava or strawberry jam, or the fresh fruit and vegetables.

Pick your own strawberries, best from the end of January to early April. Tomatoes are also available for picking during the months this local stand is open. The price for berries and tomatoes depends on the market.

Note the attire of the staff of the country stand, women wear long skirts and bonnets and the men wear traditional country farm wear. The owners are from a Protestant denomination called German Baptists, or dunkers.

Stop by Knauss Berry Farm after a trip to Monkey Jungle for a refreshing treat or to pick berries to take home.

getting there:

Take Florida's Turnpike south to exit 11 (SW 216th Street/Cutler Ridge Blvd.). Go straight through the light at the bottom of the exit ramp, past the Miami-Dade government center, and turn right on SW 216th Street. Cross U.S.1, and continue west to SW 147th Avenue and turn left. Drive south to SW 248th Street, and turn right. Look for Knauss Berry Farm on the left across from Redlands Middle School.
