About Kumon Math & Reading Centers

Kumon Centers offer programs designed to help students from kindergarten through high school improve their skills in math, reading, and test-taking. The Kumon system relies on five basic principles for success: The right starting point (achieved by diagnostic testing), an individualized program, self-learning, repetition, and good study habits. Self-learning and repetition are key: Children are expected to work on an individual basis with customized worksheets, and to practice, practice, practice. The program requires about 20 minutes per day of homework and two visits (1/2-1 hour each) per week to the Kumon center. Visit the website to find a location near you.

Tips

Teachers check on children's progress, but don't expect a lot of hand-holding.
