This 75-year-old
Mexican restaurant is very popular with
tourists visiting the lively
Olvera Street outdoor market. It's a beautiful place, located in a 150-year-old building, with tables on a shaded
terrace, as well as inside in traditional Mexican-style
dining rooms decorated with paintings by local artists. The fare is
traditional Mexican. Choose from among a variety of
soups and salads, appetizers from
ceviche, guacamole, and nachos to taquitos and chicharones. Main courses cover the whole range of combination plates; choose from a large menu offering
steak, chicken, pork and fish prepared in traditional Mexican fashion. You'll also find a full range of Mexican
breakfast dishes, including the popular
huevos rancheros and
chorizos.
Para los ninos - cheese quesadillas or enchiladas, bean and cheese burritos, beef tacos or taquitos; or for the less adventurous, cheeseburgers and fries. Items on the children's menu are about $5. There are
high chairs, but no booster seats. For the parents, there is a full bar, offering a wide variety of
margaritas.
La Golondrina Cafe offers rooms for private
parties, as well as catering and banquet service. Call 213.628.4349.
