The playground of La Jolla Elementary School is transformed each Sunday morning into a colorful, diverse farmers' market. Here, you'll find wonderful fresh organic fruits and vegetables grown by area farms, as well as a food court with fabulous baked goods, crepes, Mexican food, Turkish kebabs, smoothies, and more.
You can also browse booths that sell nothing remotely food oriented, from pashmina shawls to teak patio furniture. Low-key performances by local jazz musicians make the experience that much more pleasant. What your kids may appreciate most is the chance to meet real farmers, and to try the free samples.

getting there:
Cross is Genter Street. From I-5 heading north take the Ardath Road exit, this turns into Torrey Pines Road; from I-5 heading south take the La Jolla Village Drive exit, turn right off the exit ramp and left onto Torrey Pines Rd. Follow Torrey Pines Rd. into the Village, turn left onto Girard. Free parking available.
