Lakeland's campus is small but it's big on choices, and most Lakeland instructors bring decades of real-world experience to their classrooms. Also, because many courses are offered on weekends and evenings, a number of Lakeland instructors currently work in the fields in which they teach.

While college credit is nice, one of our favorite things about Lakeland is the variety of fun/educational summer day camps offered for kids ages six and up each year.

Offerings range from Babysitter's Training Camp to Musical Theatre Production Camp, from sports camps to Pre-School Science Camps and Reading and Math Camps. And like summer camp, but better, Lakeland's College for Kids and Teens programs include computer skills, ACT/SAT Test-Taking Strategies (ages 15-18), Outdoor Adventure, and Leadership Camps. Summer programs are managed through the college's Youth Programming department (440.525.7301). Throughout the year, the Laker's Kid's Club, a free program designed for children in kindergarten through eighth grade, sponsors fun and exciting activities once per month for kids and their parents. Events vary every month, and while most activities take place at Lakeland Community College, some take place at another venue where the college has established a partnership. Lakers Kid's Club activities are promoted through monthly postcards to the members only, and reservations occasionally are required.
