The indepedendent
Lakewood Public Library is much more than its collection of books. In fact, it may be hard to find a calendar more packed than the one here. A very busy community center, the library hosts a wide variety of writing groups, musical and other entertainment, and community education programs - as well as extensive
youth programming.
The remodeled building is also a feast for the eyes, with loads of art displays throughout. In the children's area, touchable, interactive displays allow kids to play with oversized letters and explore many early learning concepts.
In addition to holding regular book sales, an active Friends organization brings in well-known authors and other visitors for special events. To see an updated list of classes, book clubs, craft and story programs, lectures, and other events, visit the
library's current schedule.
The library's sister branch at
13229 Madison Avenue is also open seven days a week, and offers its own lineup of
children's programming.
