The Las Vegas Academy of International Studies, Performing and Visual Arts - known better as
Las Vegas Academy or LAV - is a
magnet high school for teens interested in pursuing careers in performing arts. Students in grades nine through 12 can pursue majors in dance, vocal music, instrumental music, international studies, piano, theater, theatre technologies, and visual arts. The school's
website has complete information.
After a rigorous academic day, theater students begin "part two" of their school day: the rehearsal and production of their season and showcase shows. Theater technologies students provide technical support for all theatrical, dance, and music performances on campus.
The school houses the 1,300-seat Art Deco-style
Performing Arts Center - one of the oldest performing arts structures in Las Vegas; the actors also present shows at the campus's
Lowden Theater for the Performing Arts, a state-of-the-art theater and concert hall that seats 750. Theater schedules can be found
online.
