Like a good book, The Learned Owl opens to reveal far more than you'd guess from a quick look from the outside. Follow rustic wooden floor panels past best-sellers and works by local authors (who frequent the store for signings, and just for fun) and bend to the left to find a fabulous selection of teen lit - titles on the required reading lists of local schools, and others hand-selected by the knowledgeable staff. Take a right turn to find children's titles, or hang out in the back of the store to browse nature, religious, craft, and other titles.

Staffers are gregarious and helpful, but not domineering - if you want to be left alone while you peruse the pages, you may. Children are adored here, and more than a few times we've found the staff striking up a conversation with a youngster.

Frequent author appearances and other events (every Harry Potter release is a grand event here, starting at the stroke of midnight) are worth a drive for dedicated bibliophiles. Check our calendar for upcoming programs.
